Delete Your Account

You can delete your Women's Travel Shield account at any time, and you do not have to tell us why.

Applies to the website and the Women's Travel Shield apps for iPhone and Android (com.womenstravelshield.app)

Delete it yourself

  1. 1Log in and open Settings. In the app, the same page is under Settings in the menu.
  2. 2Scroll to Danger zone and choose Delete account permanently.
  3. 3Type DELETE, enter your password to confirm it is you, then select Delete my account.

Deletion happens immediately. You will be signed out and your account will no longer exist.

If you cannot log in

Email us from the address on the account at privacy@womenstravelshield.com with the subject Delete my account. We will verify the request and delete the account within 30 days.

What is deleted

  • Your name, date of birth, email address and password
  • Anything you told us about how you identify, including any self-declared background or skin tone
  • Your public alias and profile
  • Every country rating, map pin and comment you wrote, including the notes attached to them
  • The countries you marked as visited
  • Every active login session

None of this can be restored. There is no grace period and no archived copy to recover from.

What is kept, and why

A small amount survives with every link to you removed, so that it cannot identify you.

Moderation records
If content was reported or hidden, the record of that decision is kept so moderation stays reviewable. Your identifier is erased from it.
Anonymous counts
Totals such as how many accounts were created in a month. These carry no identifier.
Records the law requires
Where a legal or accounting obligation applies, we retain only what that obligation requires, for only as long as it requires.

Delete some of your data, and keep your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove something. Sign in and delete any of these yourself, at any time. Each one is removed straight away.

Your Sisterhood posts and their photos
Open the post, tap the ... menu and choose Delete my post. My posts in Sisterhood lists everything you have written.
Your map pins
My travels, Your pins: tap the bin next to a pin.
Your country ratings
My travels, Your country ratings: remove any rating and the note with it.
Countries you marked as visited
My travels, Countries you've visited: tap the x on a country.
How you identify
My travels, How you identify: change it or clear it back to Prefer not to say.
Your current trip
Current trip: tap Trip finished to unpin a country.

Anything else

For anything you cannot delete yourself, such as your replies to other people's posts, email privacy@womenstravelshield.com from the address on your account and tell us what you want removed. We will verify the request and delete it within 30 days, and tell you when it is done. Your account stays open.

If you only want a break

Deactivating hides your profile, pins and ratings from everyone else, but leaves your account intact. Logging back in restores it. You will find it in the same Settings page, just above deletion.
