Content Disclaimer
Effective Date: July 16, 2026
This Content Disclaimer applies to all country safety guides, legal rights summaries, emergency contact listings, and related informational content published on the Women's Travel Shield Platform.
1. General Information Only
The information on this Platform is provided for general informational purposes to help women travelers make informed decisions. It is not legal advice, professional security guidance, or a substitute for official government travel advisories. No information on this Platform should be interpreted as a recommendation to travel to or avoid any specific country.
2. Not Legal Advice
The legal rights summaries provided on this Platform describe laws and legal frameworks as we understand them at the time of publication. They are not legal advice and do not create an attorney-client or advisory relationship. Laws are complex, vary by jurisdiction (and sometimes by region within a country), and may be interpreted or applied differently in practice. If you need legal advice about a specific situation, consult a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.
3. Accuracy and Currency
We work to keep our information accurate and current, including verification against primary legal sources, government databases, and NGO expertise. However, we cannot guarantee that all information is complete, accurate, or up to date at the time you access it.
Laws, government policies, safety conditions, emergency contact numbers, and embassy details can change without notice - sometimes rapidly, following elections, coups, legislative sessions, or political events. A legal right that exists on paper may not be accessible or enforced in practice, and we attempt to flag known enforcement gaps where possible.
4. Last Verified Dates
Where displayed, a “Last Verified” date indicates when our team last checked that entry against primary sources. It is not a guarantee that the information is still current at the time you read it. Always verify critical information - particularly reproductive rights, emergency numbers, and travel advisory levels - through official sources before relying on it.
5. Pending Review Content
Some content may carry a “Pending Review” label. This indicates that the entry has been compiled from publicly available sources but has not yet been independently verified by a subject-matter expert or partner organization. Pending Review content should be treated with additional caution.
6. Enforcement Gaps
A recurring theme in women's legal rights globally is the gap between law on paper and law in practice. A country may have strong anti-violence legislation but weak enforcement, or broad reproductive rights that are practically inaccessible. We do our best to flag these gaps, but our ability to assess on-the-ground enforcement is inherently limited. Do not assume that a legal protection described on this Platform will be reliably available to you in an emergency.
7. Not a Substitute for Official Sources
This Platform is not a replacement for: official government travel advisories (such as those issued by Global Affairs Canada or the U.S. Department of State); embassy and consular services in your destination country; professional legal counsel; licensed travel insurance; or professional security assessments for high-risk destinations.
We encourage every traveler to check official advisories, register with their embassy, and carry appropriate travel insurance before departure.
8. Third-Party Resources
We list emergency hotlines, NGO contacts, and embassy details sourced from official government and organizational websites. We do not control these services, cannot guarantee their availability or response times, and are not responsible for the quality of assistance they provide.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Women's Travel Shield, its founder, employees, contributors, and partners are not liable for any loss, injury, damage, or adverse outcome arising from your reliance on information provided on this Platform. Travel inherently involves risk, and the decision to travel to any destination is yours alone.
10. Your Responsibility
By using this Platform, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety and travel decisions. You agree to independently verify critical information before relying on it, to carry appropriate travel insurance, to register with your embassy or consular services when traveling abroad, and to exercise your own judgment about personal safety in any situation.
